Getting started with Spider Solitaire

Use a short break to learn the rhythm of Spider Solitaire. Complete eight same-suit king-to-ace runs. Keep the game area visible while you use its controls. Choose a comfortable screen position before beginning. Use the example below to understand a decision.

Two decks, one/two/four suits; fill every column before a ten-card stock deal. Free solo play, no wagering.

Bring this focus to a round

Watch the feedback after an action. A message can explain whether the input was accepted or whether a rule needs attention. Notice the feedback after each input.

The purpose of your moves

Complete eight same-suit king-to-ace runs. Use the instructions to see which actions move you towards it. The example below illustrates a decision.

Making your moves

  1. Build down by rank. Only descending same-suit groups move together. Empty columns accept any movable group.
  2. Select a face-up card and then the destination pile or Empty slot.
  3. Use foundations where available; full Spider or Scorpion runs clear automatically.
  4. Undo reverses a choice. New deal shuffles again.

Your inputs

Click or tap cards and piles. Wide tableaus scroll inside the game; use Undo, Hint and New deal where shown. A careful first action helps you become familiar with the layout. Check any mode label before starting.

An example before you play

A mixed-suit descending stack cannot move as one group. Focus on why the action is allowed, not only its outcome. Consider the next action carefully.

Check this before moving on

Random deals are not guaranteed solvable. A hint is a legal move, not a winning strategy. Check the rule before repeating the action. When a decision goes wrong, compare it with the common mistake described below. Start again only when you intend to leave the current round.
